Hi, I’m Eda. I am one of the founders of Tio, a digital product studio based in Istanbul. This is the last blog post about Tio’s new space. You can read our first, second and third posts here.

It has been two months since we made an office warming party but using this place as an office still feels surreal. Last days of construction went lightning fast. Moving in and settling down kept us busy for a while. Yet here we are, a digital product studio, that looks like a retail store, but is actually an office.

Demo Space in Action

Is it a retail store or what?

We have been doing demos of our products for D2C brands and scale-ups for years now. Dummy data combined with imaginary physical goods during these demos left us in a very ambiguous position for several times. Since some of our digital products are better when used with/via barcode scanners or printers, if the tools are absent, some features doesn’t feel real. Whenever we were doing a demo (or training) for a physical product team, we experienced that it would be way better if we had the real tools and items to demonstrate our products’ benefits. So that we wouldn’t find ourselves, trying to explain something we cannot really show. That’s why we wanted a demo space. To demonstrate our products and give trainings to our customers properly, if we need to. Plus, our store front makes people confused and they pay attention.

People kept entering the place thinking it was a cafe, so we had to intervene.

The Office

We designed our office to have enough space for our team and also for our collaborators. We wanted to have friends from industry to be able to come and work with us to increase professional interaction. As I explained it before, we work with a hybrid model. We -by we I mean the whole team- might not be in the office at the same time. Which means we usually have enough space for visitors. So far so good, we already have some regulars. 🎉

If you are working on “digital stuff” and would like to visit our office to work, please send us an e-mail. Some days the office is packed. That’s why you need an appointment. 😇

Event Space

This place has enough space for meetups, small workshops or fireside chats. So we are planning to host at least 2 events per month. Our first event, Digital Product 101 #1 already took place on 16th of November, first of a five-session curriculum. Other events on design and software development will be announced on our social media accounts so if you are interested, let’s keep in touch.

Content Studio

There is a dedicated and insulated basement for content creation. Our setup for videos and podcasts is still in progress. When it is ready, the studio will be open to use for everyone in the team. It doesn’t matter if the content is for Tio or not.

The End

We wanted to create a space for our team and everyone we work with to feel comfortable working, creating, chilling, partying, living and so on. We also wanted to share every step transparently so that our peers would learn what it takes to create/renovate a place like this. Here, I am ending “the tale of new our office”, with the hopes of hundreds of new -great- stories written thanks to this space. ✌🏻

Drum rolls please… Now it’s time to sit back and enjoy a well deserved before after. 🎉
